Smartail Partners with Nexus Hub to Expand AI Education

According to a BusinessWire press release carried by ThePrint and Business Standard, Smartail Pvt. Ltd. and Nexus Innovation Hub announced a strategic partnership on July 3, 2026 to accelerate AI adoption in schools and universities across Andhra Pradesh. The release states Smartail will expand its technology and operational footprint in the state, with Nellore as a key hub. The partnership centers on DeepGrade, Smartail's AI assessment platform, which India's national IndiaAI program lists as a registered AI startup; DeepGrade automates grading of handwritten and digital answer sheets, supports both objective and descriptive assessments, and covers curricula including CBSE, ICSE, Cambridge, AQA, and Pearson Edexcel, per Smartail's own product page.

Nexus Innovation Hub, a 200-seat facility in Nellore aiming to create 1,000 regional technology jobs, was founded by Renil Komitla, the same entrepreneur behind IT services firm Terralogic, which separately announced its own AI product expansion this week. The hub also houses several other AI and technology startups.

Automated grading systems that combine OCR with NLP-based short-answer scoring commonly face distribution shift when moving from pilot schools to broader rollouts; handwriting variability, multilingual input, and rubric alignment for descriptive answers typically require ongoing human-in-the-loop validation to hold accuracy steady at scale.

Independent, third-party accuracy evaluations, rather than vendor-reported figures, along with dataset provenance and privacy safeguards, would materially strengthen confidence in DeepGrade's readiness for wider deployment.
