Singapore Establishes National AI Council To Drive Transformation

Singapore will establish a National Artificial Intelligence Council chaired by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, the government announced on Feb. 12 during the Budget 2026 statement. The council will oversee AI missions across four sectors—advanced manufacturing, connectivity, finance and healthcare—and introduce measures including a Champions of AI programme, expanded tax deductions (S$50,000 cap for 2027–28) and a new one-north AI park to scale deployments.
Scoring Rationale
Strong official national initiative with concrete incentives and programs, limited technical novelty beyond policy announcement.
