Seedance 2.0 Generates Lifelike Cruise-Pitt Deepfakes

ByteDance's new tool Seedance 2.0 generated a viral 15-second deepfake of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt last week, created from a two-sentence prompt and described as nearly indistinguishable from reality. Major studios, SAG-AFTRA and the Motion Picture Association issued condemnations and Disney and Paramount sent cease-and-desist letters; ByteDance pledged to strengthen safeguards before Seedance's global rollout later this month.
