RiskOCA Enables AI-Based Community Oral Cancer Screening

Researchers in Thailand developed and field-tested RiskOCA, a smartphone AI platform for oral cancer screening, and deployed it in Phu Kamyao district, Phayao province in 2025–26 screening 1,242 adults aged 40+ with village health volunteers. The model trained on 2,226 images achieved 93.22% mean classification accuracy and VHVs reported 4.17/5 usability; results support feasible scalable community-based screening with specialist review.
