RIKEN, Fujitsu Build Next-Gen AI Supercomputing Ecosystem
RIKEN, Fujitsu, Argonne National Laboratory and Nvidia said they have agreed a memorandum of understanding to develop system software, applications and computing architectures for AI-enabled high-performance computing. The agreement covers prototype architectures, a shared open interoperable software stack, autonomous laboratory workflows and convergence with quantum computing to accelerate modeling, simulation and scientific discovery. The collaboration aligns with the US Department of Energy's Genesis Mission and builds on prior RIKEN–ANL AI cooperation.
Key Points
- 1Sign MoU to jointly develop system software, applications, and architectures for AI-enabled HPC and modeling
- 2Target shared interoperable software stack, autonomous labs, and quantum-supercomputing convergence to accelerate discovery
- 3Enable practitioners to integrate GPUs, Arm-based CPUs, and AI workflows into large-scale scientific simulations
Scoring Rationale
Official multinational MoU signals significant HPC and AI collaboration, but remains preliminary and outlines development rather than deployable systems.
