Researchers Evaluate Gender Scoring For Clinical Data

Researchers at University Medicine Greifswald (2026) reviewed 22 publications to assess existing gender scores and tested their applicability to routine clinical data using the German Medical Informatics Initiative core dataset (MII CDS). They found no standardized validated gender score for health research, identified missing gender-relevant variables in the MII CDS, and recommend updating the CDS with specific gender-related variables to enable retrospective and prospective gender-sensitive analyses.
