Researchers Build NotebookLM-Based Airway Decision Aid

In a 2026 JMIR Medical Informatics study, researchers used Google NotebookLM (Gemini 2.0) to build and evaluate a guideline-based decision aid for diagnosing and managing airway diseases. They ingested GINA, GOLD, and Taiwan pulmonary guidelines, tested simulated cases scored by three pulmonologists, and deployed the tool in an emergency department with 20 staff; 67% of specialist ratings were above average with moderate-to-good reliability. The system increased staff literacy and showed potential physician time savings.
Scoring Rationale
Pilot demonstrates practical LLM-based clinical decision support; limited sample size and single-center ED deployment restrict generalizability.
