Raytheon Receives Contract To Equip X-62A

Raytheon has received a contract to equip the U.S. Air Force’s X-62A VISTA test aircraft with its PhantomStrike fire-control radar, the UK Defence Journal reports. PhantomStrike is an air-cooled, gallium nitride–based, multimode radar Raytheon positions as a lower-cost alternative to AESA systems; the selection will support continued autonomous flight testing and development of Collaborative Combat Aircraft concepts. The X-62A logged over 17 hours of AI-driven flight in late 2023.
Scoring Rationale
Official vendor contract and support for autonomous testing drive score; limited novelty and narrow defense focus constrain broader impact.
