Philippine Wikiwomen Expand Local Women Coverage

In March 2026, Shared Knowledge Asia Pacific led four Wikiwomen edit-a-thons across Baguio, Sual (Pangasinan), Cebu and Davao, attracting 115 registered editors, 80% of whom were new contributors. Participants uploaded 841 files to Wikimedia Commons, edited or created 241 women-related articles and added 72 references. These community efforts aim to close gender and language gaps on Wikipedia and improve culturally accurate local data for education and AI systems.
