Pentagon Designates Anthropic As Supply-Chain Risk

Pentagon R&D chief Emil Michael said the Defense Department on Thursday formally designated Anthropic as a supply-chain risk, effectively blacklisting the AI company. Michael cited alarm over potential model shutdowns during critical missions and an incident after a US raid in Venezuela, prompting the DoD to transition to alternatives like OpenAI and prepare legal and operational responses.
