Pakistan's Higher Education Commission announced on Feb 19 that, beginning with the academic session 2026, all undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in public and private higher-education institutions must include a mandatory three-credit hour course on Artificial Intelligence. The HEC said the course may be offered as an elective, interdisciplinary, or supporting subject to equip students with AI skills relevant to their fields.
