MariaDB Plc said on March 9, 2026 it is buying GridGain Systems Inc., creator of Apache Ignite, to add in-memory computing and sub-millisecond data processing for agentic AI workloads. Terms were not disclosed; MariaDB said the combined stack will handle analytical, transactional and AI workloads across hybrid clouds. The deal follows MariaDB's 2024 acquisition by K1 and recent product launches aimed at agentic applications.
