Macquarie Appoints Interim Head Of AI

Macquarie University has appointed Richard Watts-Seale as interim head of AI after Phil Laufenberg left to join La Trobe University, a spokesperson said. Laufenberg will join La Trobe early next month as pro vice-chancellor artificial intelligence and chief AI officer, while Macquarie says its in-house ChatMQ assistant for 3,500 staff will continue using OpenAI (Azure), Anthropic (AWS) and add Google Gemini.
