Machine Learning Improves Detection of VETC in HCC

A meta-analysis (search to June 21, 2025) of 31 studies assessed machine learning diagnostic accuracy for vessels encapsulating tumor clusters (VETC) in hepatocellular carcinoma, covering 6,755 patients (2,699 VETC-positive). Radiomic models achieved pooled validation sensitivity 0.81, specificity 0.73, AUC 0.84; nonradiomic models reached sensitivity 0.72, specificity 0.74, AUC 0.80. Authors call for multicenter prospective validation before clinical translation.
