Intensivists Warn AMR Narrows ICU Treatment Options

Chennai — Intensivists at Criticare 2026, organised by the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine on Feb. 28, 2026, warned that rising antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in ICUs is reducing antibiotic effectiveness and complicating treatment of life‑threatening infections across India. They urged stronger antimicrobial stewardship, improved diagnostics and infection control, clinician education, and policy support to institutionalize stewardship programmes.
