India Orders AI Task Forces In Police
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Jan. 21, 2026 directed all Indian states and union territories to establish dedicated Artificial Intelligence Task Forces within police departments, according to government officials. The Ministry of Home Affairs will develop a framework to integrate AI with NATGRID for intelligence gathering, real-time threat detection, and automated crime-pattern analysis, while targeting training of at least 70% of police personnel via the iGOT portal.
