India Defends Digital Platform Regulation Framework

S Krishnan, Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, defended the government's approach to regulating digital platforms at the DNPA Conclave 2026 on Feb. 26, 2026. He said measures are rooted in the Constitution and existing law—citing Article 19, Section 69A and Section 79 of the IT Act—and insisted platforms operating in India must comply with Indian law. He also urged fair revenue negotiations, highlighted AI and copyright concerns, and called for coordinated multi-ministry action.
