HP Launches On-Device Chatbot For Laptops
On Tuesday, HP showcased HP IQ, an on-device chatbot for commercial EliteBook X laptops that runs OpenAI's GPT OSS 20b and processes most data locally. Developed by ex-Humane staff led by Imran Chaudhri after HP acquired Humane for a reported $116 million, HP IQ can summarize documents, transcribe audio, and interpret drag-and-dropped files while optionally accessing limited online data. The app will activate via a spring update; consumer laptops may not get it until 2027.
