HEDERA Improves PEM Electrolyzers Cost And Durability

HEDERA, led by Instituto Tecnológico de la Energía with partners Laurentia Technologies, Galesa and Linkener, is testing new PEM electrolyzer electrode inks and an ML-driven degradation model at a Valencia pilot plant in 2025–2026. Funded by IVACE+i and EU FEDER, the project reports early reductions in catalyst use and improved durability, and plans final validation and commercial scaling work through 2026. If validated, the work could cut electrolyzer CAPEX/OPEX for industrial hydrogen users.
Scoring Rationale
Same-day pilot announcement with credible funding and partners gives high relevance and credibility. Moderate novelty and actionable pilot results raise its usefulness, but impact is tempered by early-stage validation and regional scope.
