Google Removes Generative Tools From Pixel Studio

Google is winding down Pixel Studio’s generative image tools, removing prompt-based editing, sticker creation, and object deletion in a Pixel 9 and 10 update published this week (version 2.2.001.864530193.00). Google says it will redirect users to the Gemini app’s Nano Banana model while retaining basic editor features such as cropping, drawing, highlighting and text, and keeping existing Pixel Studio integrations functional during the transition.
Key Points
- 1Removes prompt-based editing, sticker creator, and object deletion from Pixel Studio in Pixel 9/10 update
- 2Prioritizes Gemini/Nano Banana and other Google generative-photo features like Remix and Google Photos tools
- 3Practitioners should export creations to Gemini; basic editing remains available on-device during transition
Scoring Rationale
Product consolidation is official and actionable for Pixel users, but change has limited novelty and narrow device scope.
