Google Builds Custom Modem For Pixel

According to multiple reports, Google is preparing to equip the Pixel 11 with a fully custom-designed modem, aiming to gain end-to-end control over cellular connectivity. The move follows hiring of modem engineers and would make Google one of four companies shipping proprietary smartphone modems, enabling tighter integration with Tensor chips and on-device AI. If successful, it could improve connectivity, power efficiency, and Pixel competitiveness.
