Federal Government Uses AI To Summarize Comments

Canada's federal government is using an internally developed AI platform to translate and summarize more than 11,000 public comments submitted during its AI policy consultation, Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon said Dec. 11, 2025. Solomon said the work complies with Treasury Board rules and that the summarized comments will be published when finished; an updated national AI strategy will be released in the new year.
Key Points
- 1Uses AI to translate and summarize over 11,000 public consultation comments
- 2Ensures efficient analysis for policy-making while complying with Treasury Board rules
- 3Enables faster publication of aggregated feedback and informs updated national AI strategy
Scoring Rationale
Official government adoption of AI for public consultation gives actionable precedent, but represents incremental operational use rather than novel capability.
