Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met a delegation of academic leaders from 24 Canadian universities led by Ambassador Christopher Cooter on February 4, 2026, urging them to establish international campuses in India to build a future-ready workforce and deepen research collaboration. The government has issued 14 letters of intent to foreign institutions and approved five offshore campuses in GIFT City, with programs proposed in data science, AI, cybersecurity and biomedical sciences.
