Dying Light Adds Ray Tracing And DLSS 4

Techland released Patch 1.4 last week for Dying Light: The Beast, adding ray tracing for shadows, reflections and global illumination; benchmarks used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and an NVIDIA RTX 5090. In a worst-case 4K stress scene, RT drops average framerates from about 91 to the 30s, while DLSS 4 Quality/Frame Gen and MFG modes raise averages to ~58, 100, 150 and 190 FPS.
Key Points
- 1Shows Ray Tracing at native 4K reduces average framerate from 91 to the 30s in stress scene
- 2Demonstrates measurable image-quality gains in shadows, reflections, and global illumination with RT
- 3Recommends enabling DLSS 4 Quality, Frame Gen, or MFG modes to recover playable framerates
Scoring Rationale
Moderate practical relevance for GPU rendering, but limited novelty and narrow scope confined to a single game's update.
