Duolingo Shifts Focus To User Growth

Duolingo said on Feb. 27 it will prioritize user growth and teaching quality over near-term financial growth after surpassing 50 million daily active users and generating more than $1 billion in bookings in 2025. CEO Louis von Ahn cited AI-driven changes and slowing DAU growth (30% in Q4 2025, expected about 20% in 2026) and outlined plans to improve free experiences, AI speaking practice, and expand chess, math and music offerings.
