Crucible Enhances Nugget-Based RAG Retrieval Performance

In a Jan. 19, 2026 arXiv submission, researchers introduce Crucible, a Nugget-Augmented Generation System that constructs Q&A nugget banks from retrieved documents and preserves explicit citation provenance during generation. Evaluated on the TREC NeuCLIR 2024 collection, Crucible substantially outperforms the recent nugget-based RAG system Ginger on nugget recall, density, and citation grounding, reducing repeated information via interpretable Q&A semantics.
Scoring Rationale
Novel nugget-based RAG approach shows measurable TREC NeuCLIR gains; limited by arXiv preprint status and single-benchmark evaluation.
