Cisco Introduces Integrated Performance Measurement For Networks

Cisco today unveiled Integrated Performance Measurement (IPM), a hardware-embedded monitoring approach that measures every ECMP path at scale for large AI data centers. IPM supports up to 14 million probes per second with one-millisecond granularity, uses standards-based OWAMP/STAMP and integrates with SRv6, Cisco PCA and Crosswork Routing Analytics to correlate routing and measurement data. The feature aims to improve per-path visibility, latency accuracy and troubleshooting.
Key Points
- 1Deploys hardware-embedded IPM measuring every ECMP path at up to 14 million probes per second
- 2Provides accurate one-way latency and loss using OWAMP/STAMP, avoiding return-path masking for precise metrics
- 3Enables operators to detect per-path issues and optimize routing and traffic engineering for AI data centers
Scoring Rationale
High engineering novelty and broad industry applicability, backed by Cisco's official specifications but limited to vendor-specific hardware.
