China Strengthens Energy Security Through Renewables

According to a recent report from the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research at Beijing Institute of Technology, China is projected to reach 85 percent energy self-sufficiency by 2030 and expects coal and oil consumption to peak during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–30). The report forecasts clean energy will exceed 35 percent of consumption, storage capacity will surpass 350 million kilowatts, and power demand may approach 14 trillion kWh by 2030.
