BRAIx Predicts Short-Term Breast Cancer Risk

An Australian study published in The Lancet Digital Health today finds that an AI tool, BRAIx, predicted short-term breast cancer risk among women with clear mammograms. Across 95,823 Australian patients (1.1% developed cancer within four years) and 4,430 Swedish patients (6.9% within two years), BRAIx identified higher risk one to two years after clear screens, with lower accuracy at three to four years. The tool is now being trialled in Victoria.
Scoring Rationale
Peer-reviewed Lancet study shows actionable screening improvements; limited by modest novelty and reduced accuracy beyond two years.
