Backboard Raises Pre-Seed To Provide LLM Memory

Ottawa-based Backboard, founded by Assent co-founder Rob Imbeault in April 2025, said it raised a substantial pre-seed round led by Mistral Venture Partners with participation from Garage Capital, N49P, DevCap and two angel investors. The startup is building a portable memory layer that can attach to more than 2,000 LLMs to preserve context across sessions; it will allocate 40 percent of funds to product development.
