AWS told Reuters on Feb. 19 that a December outage in one of its two China regions was caused by misconfigured access controls and user error, not by its Kiro AI coding tool. The company said the incident affected only the AWS Cost Explorer service and emphasized Kiro requests authorization by default, disputing a Financial Times report that attributed the 13-hour outage to the assistant.
