Apollo Backs Contested Genesee County Data Center

Residents of Genesee County, New York, are opposing a proposed STAMP data center backed by Stream Data Centers and financed by Apollo Global Management, which manages $908 billion in assets. Stream's proposal rose from $6.3 billion (early 2025) to $11.2 billion and now $19.5 billion, with public tax-exemption requests between $801 million and $1.44 billion. On Feb. 5, 2026, the county began reviewing Stream's financial-aid application, sparking environmental and sovereignty concerns.
