Americans Shift Views On Science And Government Funding

Pew Research Center surveyed 5,111 U.S. adults from Oct. 20–26, 2025, and finds broad agreement that being a world leader in science matters, but sharp partisan divides on the direction and funding of U.S. research. Democrats increasingly (up 28 points since 2023) say the U.S. is losing ground; 84% overall say government research investments are worthwhile while 54% of Republicans say private investment alone could suffice.
