Amazon Halts Blue Jay Robot Project Pursues Orbital

Amazon announced it halted the Blue Jay warehouse robot project in January, months after unveiling the multi-armed system in October. The company cited high costs, manufacturing complexity, and implementation challenges, and will reuse Blue Jay technology while shifting same-day fulfillment strategy toward a modular "Orbital" system for smaller warehouses and micro-fulfillment sites, with first Orbital facilities expected around 2027.
