US Public Views Tariffs On China Too High
Nearly half of US adults say current tariffs on Chinese goods are "too high," according to a Council on Foreign Relations report with Morning Consult published Thursday based on a Jan. 7–8 poll of 2,203 adults. The survey found 49% view tariffs as too high, noted tariffs peaked at 135% in April 2025 and stood at an effective 24% in January, and showed strong support for targeted US–China cooperation.
Scoring Rationale
Credible, timely poll offers useful public-opinion insight but modest novelty and limited direct relevance to data-science practitioners.
