Tencent, one of the world’s largest video game companies, is equipping its roughly 230 acquired and invested studios with generative AI and other development tools after gaming revenue rose to RMB 197.7 billion in 2024. The company plans further M&A and overseas partnerships to build global IP; it uses AI to compress tasks like character design from months to hours and to scale user testing and marketing.
