Appavu on Feb. 10, 2026 inaugurated the ninth Porunai Book Fair at Nellai Trade Centre in Tirunelveli, where more than 126 publishers and organisations including Kudankulam and ISRO’s Propulsion Research Complex set up stalls; the fair runs through Feb. 22. The state government, promoting district-level book fairs and a new 'Classical Language Literature Award', is holding competitions, lectures, cultural events and special buses to encourage youth to read.
