Stakeholders Cocreate Equitable Digital Health Principles

This study by Catalonia's DS3 research group cocreated actionable design principles for equitable digital health through a participatory human-centered design process involving 265 stakeholders between June 2024 and April 2025. Participants identified barriers—digital literacy gaps, fragmented information systems, and exclusion of vulnerable groups—and produced ten principles to center people, integrate data, and foster collaboration. The principles aim to guide health information system design toward inclusive, person-centered digital transformation.
Key Points
- 1Identifies barriers: digital literacy gaps, fragmented information systems, and exclusion of vulnerable populations from design.
- 2Derives ten actionable design principles to guide equitable, person-centered digital health transformations across systems.
- 3Encourages sustained stakeholder partnerships, data-driven integration, and inclusive co-design for implementable health information systems.
Scoring Rationale
Strong empirical cocreation with 265 participants yields actionable principles; limited novelty beyond established human-centered design evidence.
