South Korea Welcomes China Removing Disputed Platform

South Korea on Jan. 27 called China’s decision to remove one disputed steel platform from overlapping Yellow Sea waters "meaningful progress." Seoul said the platform, part of three installations built in 2018, 2022 and 2024 inside the provisional maritime zone, will be moved starting Tuesday and the action could help advance bilateral ties. Officials said dialogue will continue.
