South Korea Strengthens Cybersecurity Against AI-Driven Threats

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency released a 2025 Cyber Threat Trends and 2026 Outlook report on Jan. 27 warning that last year's large-scale breaches will fuel more sophisticated AI-enhanced attacks. The report recorded 2,383 information breaches in 2025, a 26.3% increase, cites misuse of models like Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini, and details a 401.2 billion won cybersecurity budget and proposed fines up to 3% of sales.
