Ukrainian drone manufacturer SkyFall unveiled its P1-SUN JetKiller interceptor at the Farnborough International Airshow on July 20. The faster P1-SUN variant is designed to counter Russia's jet-powered Shahed-derived attack drones, which Reuters reports can reach 500 km/h.
SkyFall says the JetKiller reaches 370 km/h, compared with 310 km/h for the earlier P1-SUN. A company spokesperson told Breaking Defense that the target drones do not sustain maximum speed throughout their routes, creating windows in which the interceptor can catch them.
What SkyFall disclosed
Breaking Defense reported that SkyFall designed the JetKiller in about three months after hearing a requirement from Ukraine's armed forces. The company plans to begin mass production in August and says it is targeting capacity of 50,000 units per month.
The Kyiv Independent reported a range of up to 30 km, a ceiling of 9,000 metres, 15 minutes of endurance and a 500-gram warhead. Those specifications, as well as SkyFall's claim that the variant has already intercepted jet-powered Shaheds, are company-reported. Reuters said it could not independently verify the battlefield claims.
SkyFall describes the aircraft as using AI terminal guidance to detect and maintain a track on a target during the final stage of an intercept. The retrieved reporting does not disclose the model architecture, training data, sensor-fusion design, onboard compute, communications link or level of human supervision. It also provides no independently measured detection accuracy, false-positive rate or latency.
Why the distinction matters
The JetKiller is a faster configuration of the existing P1-SUN, not a replacement name for every P1-SUN interceptor. Reuters reported that the baseline model entered use in November 2025 and that SkyFall attributes more than 5,500 interceptions to it. That larger total should not be presented as a JetKiller result.
The new variant's 370 km/h top speed is also below the reported 500 km/h maximum of some jet-powered Shaheds. SkyFall's case depends on detection, route geometry and engaging during slower portions of the target's flight, not on a simple top-speed advantage.
What practitioners should watch
For autonomy and computer-vision teams, the important evidence is still missing. A useful assessment would require independently reported tests across day and night conditions, electronic-warfare disruption, varied approach angles and adversarial backgrounds, along with clarity on target confirmation and abort controls.
Manufacturing claims matter as much as guidance performance. The operational question is whether SkyFall can produce enough reliable interceptors at a sustainable cost while maintaining sensor calibration, software quality and safe engagement controls at scale.
