On March 18, Singapore and Japan announced they elevated bilateral ties to a strategic partnership, pledging deeper cooperation across five areas including AI, digitalisation, security, trade and the green transition. They agreed to an ICT policy dialogue, AI safety and governance collaboration, an Energy, Sustainability and Climate Cooperation Framework, and mutual recognition of smart-device labelling from June 1, 2026.
