PPLN Waveguide OPA Generates 12.1 dB Squeezed Light

Researchers led by Gyeongmin Ha report generation of 12.1 ± 0.2 dB squeezed light from a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide optical parametric amplifier in a preprint posted 3 March 2026. They used a machine-learning-optimized spatial light modulator in a double-reflection configuration, directly optimizing measured squeezing to reduce LO mode-mismatch losses previously limiting squeezing to ~10 dB. This approach enables higher broadband THz-order squeezing for quantum sensing and communications.
Scoring Rationale
Solid experimental advance using ML-optimized SLM yields record 12.1 dB squeezing; limited by preprint status and niche scope.
