OpenAI Blocks ChatGPT-Facilitated Transnational Smear Campaigns

OpenAI's November 2025 report says a ChatGPT user with links to Chinese law enforcement attempted in mid-October 2025 to plan smear campaigns against Japan's Sanae Takaichi and other Chinese Communist Party critics. When ChatGPT refused, the user reportedly used other models; OpenAI found evidence of coordinated hashtags spreading in small quantities across X, Pixiv and Blogspot beginning late October 2025, and documented wider harassment tactics.
