NIT-T Researchers Produce Eco-Friendly Paver Blocks

Researchers at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi (NIT–T) produced eco-friendly paver blocks using legacy waste from the Ariyamangalam dump, according to an official March 6, 2026 release. The civil engineering team utilized Soil-Like Material (SLM), which constitutes about 53% of the legacy waste, as a component of the blocks, offering a reuse pathway and reducing disposal.
Scoring Rationale
Local engineering innovation provides practical waste reuse, but limited methodology details and narrow scope lower broader impact.
