Power, cooling and modularity
Mocean's official Blue Core page describes units designed to operate without a grid connection or backup fossil-fuel generation. The cooling design uses a closed loop that transfers heat to the sea rather than consuming local drinking water. Mocean estimates cooling would use about 5% of a Blue Core unit's energy budget, compared with 15% to 35% for an onshore data center. Those figures are company estimates for a future system, not measurements from a deployed Blue Core facility.
The modular design is meant to let operators add capacity one unit at a time and remove an individual unit for maintenance or a GPU upgrade without taking an entire farm offline.
