Lothar Schmid Auctions Rare Chess Library

Lothar Schmid's extensive chess-book collection is being sold at Sotheby's, offering manuscripts, rare early prints and archival memorabilia, including the 1497 Lucena. The sale features 15th–18th-century editions, automaton chess volumes, Emanuel Lasker autographs and Fischer–Spassky 1972 documents; some lesser lots are priced at a few thousand pounds.
