Kioxia Launches BG7 SSDs With BiCS FLASH

Kioxia Corporation today announced the KIOXIA BG7 Series SSDs, the first client drives to use its BiCS FLASH Gen. 8 3D flash memory with CMOS Directly Bonded to Array (CBA) technology. The PCIe 4.0, NVMe 2.0d-compliant M.2 drives deliver up to 1,000,000 IOPS random and 7,000 MB/s sequential read, offer 256 GB–2 TB capacities, and debut at CES 2026 (Jan 6–8) with samples under OEM evaluation.
Key Points
- 1Announces BiCS FLASH Gen.8 with CBA, delivering up to 1,000,000 IOPS and 7,000 MB/s
- 2Improves sequential performance ~16% and sequential write power efficiency ~67% versus BG6 predecessor
- 3Enables DRAM-less HMB support, NVMe 2.0d, and new M.2 2242 form factor for OEMs
Scoring Rationale
High-confidence product launch with significant performance and efficiency gains, but limited to client/PC segment rather than datacenter-grade impact.
