Japanese Automakers Adopt Chinese Automotive Chips

Japanese automakers Toyota, Suzuki and the Volkswagen Group are increasingly adopting Chinese-made automotive SoC chips from Horizon Robotics, with Toyota expected to install the products in mass-produced models from about 2028–2029. Horizon said in December it received orders for 10 million SoC units, and partnerships with suppliers including Denso and Bosch aim to integrate the chips into ADAS systems. Automakers weigh cost advantages against China-related security and global usability concerns.
