India Signals Fair Remuneration For News Creators

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi on Feb. 17, Union IT and I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government believes news publishers and content creators must receive fair remuneration when their work trains AI models or generates automated summaries. He said officials are in talks with major digital platforms to explore structured compensation frameworks, citing international bargaining codes and legal disputes.
